Not a word has been said aboutThe Outer Worlds 2 since its very self-aware debut trailer, at least officially anyway. There are some indications that The Outer Worlds 2 is further along in development than the trailer would have led players to believe, but still, it’s a mystery. All players really know is that it will feature a new crew in a new solar system.
Leaving Halcyon behind may be bittersweet for fans, but it may be the best decision since The Outer Worlds 2 is skipping PS5. Nonetheless, leaving Halcyon behind may also mean addressing one very big piece of lore: colonies outside Halcyon.
Why The Outer Worlds Fans Want Romance in the Sequel
At the end of theOuter Worlds, players essentially leave Halcyon to the Board’s control or in a position where it must survive on its own. Players know the Earth has gone dark and is not communicating with Halcyon, for reasons unknown. And it’s easy to feel alone in the Outer Worlds when colonies or life outside Halcyon is intentionally hidden from characters.
Players, as well as many characters, are left completely in the dark about life outside Halcyon from Earth and otherwise. This would suggest that there’s a bigger truth to be discovered, as to why the Halcyon companies don’t want players to know about other colonies. Is there something happening across multiple star systems that has left Halcyon stranded, or is it simply that corporate greed isn’t as domineering in other Solar Systems? Are other colonies doing better, meaning the corporations of The Outer Worlds are trying to hide this from its colonists, or are they falling apart due to corporate expansion?
