Given that the Super Mario Bros. movie made $1.36 billion worldwide at the box office when it was released it is no surprise that Nintendo are going to turn The Legend Of Zelda in to a film as well.
The legendary Shigeru Miyamoto took to Twitter to announce the project. “This is Miyamoto. I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films,” he Tweeted.
“I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”
A director is already on board with The Maze Runner’s Wes Ball on board and the movie will be financed in part by Sony, with Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc also handling the worldwide release.
We gave Breath of the Wilde a superb 9/10 in our review. “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild dramatically updates this venerable and beloved series, bringing new ideas into the fold which, while seemingly taking inspiration from others, seamlessly adapts them to fit and never loses its own identity,” said Stefan. “It’s refreshingly new and familiar at the same time, making for both one of the greatest launch titles and the sweetest swan songs any console could wish for.”
