The first trailer for A Minecraft Movie has dropped, giving us a glimpse of the blocky film adaptation of one of the biggest video games of all time. A Minecraft Movie will be in cinemas from 4th April 2025, for your next dose of video game movie Jack Black.
There’s a lot of things going on this reveal trailer, with four regular world humans pulled into the blocky Minecraft universe. Jason Momoa is the biggest name on the ticket, but there’s also Emma Myers (“Wednesday”), Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks (“The Color Purple”), and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (“Just Mercy, “Lisey’s Story”) who’s definitely channelling some young Paul Rudd, if you ask me.

In particular, there’s a lot of comments about having real actors within the very heavily stylised, over-saturated game world, and comparisons to “Minecraft vs Real Life” videos that were common in the mid 2010s. What do you think?
All involved will be hoping to replicate the rampaging successes of other video game movies – not Borderlands, though. The gold rush was started in earnest by Detective Pikachu, which garnered a whopping $450
