The Finals, the new destruction-heavy multiplayer shooter from the Battlefield vets at Embark Studios, has got off to a solid start following its full launch in December, but like any major new MP games there are plenty of early wrinkles to be ironed out. One of the major complaints players have had against the game is that aim assist is just too aggressive, to the point you can snap to an opponent, turn 90 degrees, and still remain locked on. While aim assist has a place in modern shooters, needless to say, it shouldn’t be too heavy-handed in what’s supposed to be a skill-based competitive game.
Well, the first 2024 update for The Finals drops today, and it largely focuses on adjusting aim assist along with the usual bug fixes ect. Here’s how aim assist is changing in update 1.4.1…
"Today we have a small patch that addresses community feedback on aim assist, fair play, and bug fixes. These changes are the result of an in-depth review of how aim assist works — something we’ve only been able to validate with a player base as large as ours (thanks so much for playing our game, yolks!)"
Aim Assistance
This isn’t the only update The Finals players can expect this month – Embark is promising a larger update next week which will add new content and offer a “major security fix.”
The Finals can be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Update 1.4.1 should be available to download now.
