Square Enix is bringing back 2020’s Fantasy XIV + Final Fantasy XI crossover event, and it’s going live on April 28. The Maiden’s Rhapsody collaboration kicks off on that date at 1AM PT, and will continue on through May 18 at 7:59AM PT. Previously, it was held in 2015, 2017, and 2020, so it’s a long-running tradition in the Final Fantasy XIV universe.
So what is it? Well, it’s similar to a lot of other events in that it’s a mostly low-key celebration involving a short questline with rewards. This year you can score the Amatsu outfit, which can be transmogrified with any set of gear (across all classes) to change your look.
You can find the quest at Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.6 Y:11.2), which is a classic location for many other events. As a reminder, Square Enix allows players to repeat events even if they’ve done them before: you just need to talk to the Remumu NPC and select “replay.”
Remembering how far back this event dates reminded me that A Realm Reborn came out in 2013. That’s…kind of insane! It’s a true testament to the amount of love and care this development team has given the game, and how they were able to turn around the original vision, and keep it going for nearly a decade now.
