Hulu releases a new trailer for its upcoming series, The Dropout, starring Amanda Seyfried as the founder of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes. The limited series also includes Naveen Andrews, who will play the role of Sunny Balwani, along with guest stars Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kate Burton, Michel Gill, LisaGay Hamilton, William H. Macy, Elizabeth Marvel, Laurie Metcalf, Dylan Minnette, Alan Ruck, Sam Waterston, Michaela Watkins, and more. The Dropout chronicles the life of the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire, Elizabeth Holmes, and follows her journey as the founder of the health-tech company Theranos.
Now, a brand-new trailer of The Dropout released by Hulu puts the spotlight on Seyfried's performance as Holmes. The trailer begins with Holmes carrying out her overly ambitious plan of developing new technology to assist with blood-testing. However, the tension is progressively amped up as the once-promising businesswoman finds herself on a downward spiral coinciding with the downfall of her company. Showrunner Elizabeth Meriwether will also act as executive producer for the series, alongside Liz Heldens, Liz Hannah, Katherine Pope, Rebecca Jarvis, Victoria Thompson, and Taylor Dunn. Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) helmed several episodes and also serves as an executive producer along with his producing partner of Semi-Formal Productions, Jordana Mollick. Fresh off an Oscar nomination for David Fincher's 2020 biopic Mank, The Dropout will mark Amanda Seyfried's first television role since the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks. The part of Elizabeth Holmes was initially meant to be played by Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon.
