When you wake up on the orbiting station of The Cycle: Frontier and take your first steps as a Prospector you’ll find quite the battlefield waiting for you below.Frontier III, the planet on which you find yourself visiting again and again, is a hazardous place filled with monsters, mayhem, and other heavily armed competitors all gunning for what you have.

Jumping straight in without any prep or knowledge of what you’re in for can lead to quite a frustrating and chaotic experience. So to make that transition down to the planet a little smoother, here’s a handy guide to the PvP in The Cycle: Frontier.
First things first, before you go diving in there’s something you should know about how the PvP works. Essentially Prospectors are dropped onto one of two maps, either Bright Sands, which is set to Normal Difficulty, or Crescent Falls, which is Hard.
The former is larger than the latter, and it works a little like Escape From Tarkov. In that, you have an absolutely gigantic map to explore and new players are constantly arriving. There is no timer and you can wander around for hours if you choose, but during that time the player count will continue to be topped up with new arrivals, so it only gets more dangerous. Areas that were previously empty behind you, could now have an extra heavily armed explorer or two wandering around.
Your first port of call for combat, the Bright Sands map in The Cycle: Frontier is the largest map in the game and is set to normal difficulty. So most people tend to play on this one, that is until you get sufficiently equipped enough to start raiding the harder map for better gear.
