The Nintendo Switch has been on a tear ever since it arrived back in 2017. It quickly surpassed all previous Nintendo home consoles in terms of sales, topping 100 million in sales last December and toppling the mighty PlayStation 3 last summer.
Now, thanks to Nintendo's Q3 2022 financial results (and some analysis from TweakTown's Derek Strickland), we know how much money all those sales have generated for Nintendo. Nintendo reported $59.8 billion in total cumulative sales revenues after the release of the Switch in March of 2017. Although this number technical includes sales of the Wii U and 3DS, sales of those older consoles have dropped off markedly, so we can assume most of those billions come from the Switch.

Unlike other console manufacturers, Nintendo sells the Switch at a profit. In fact, it gets most of its revenue from hardware sales, with $33.16 billion (or 55%) of that $60 billion coming from consoles. The rest is made of video games sales, which totaled 766.41 million Switch games.
The vast majority of Switch units sold are the base model (81.68 million), with the Switch Lite in second (17.87 million) and the relatively new Switch OLED in third (3.99 million).
In other news, Wii Sports is coming back but updated for the Switch. Playtesting is underway (except for the Switch Lite, which doesn't have Joy Cons) and datamines have revealed the return of a certain famous character from the Wii generation.
