It's been almost two decades since the last Dino Crisis game, so what does Capcom do? Instead of bringing us back to the Jurassic survival horror genre, they turn Dino Crisis into a mecha hero shooter.
At today's State of Play, PlayStation kicked off the celebration with the first look at Exoprimal, a brand new third-person action title from Capcom. You play as one of several exosuit pilots tasked with exterminating a flood of dinosaurs that come flooding through a mysterious portal. Equally mysterious as the portal itself is how the dinosaurs survive a six-story drop to the street, but that's what your heavily-armed mech suit is designed to fix.

It looks like each mech will come with different abilities to combat the dinosaur hordes, including a big one getting a giant energy shield and a ninja-style suit getting a sword. Expect a soldier suit to be all about guns, a flying suit to be all about mobility, and probably a few others we haven't had a chance to look at yet. Most of the dinos appeared to be of the raptor variety, but kudos to Capcom for giving them a few feathers in keeping with the current theories surrounding dinosaur appearance.
Exoprimal has a tentative release window of next year on PlayStation, but hopefully it'll hit a few other platforms too.
