Udon Entertainment and Capcom have frequently worked together before, providing art for several games, as well as expanding the lore of the franchise through these comics. In this case, the developers provided Udon with the script and storyline of the events before Street Fighter 6, likely in order to make sure neither medium contradicts each other. With the game hitting store shelves this June, Udon has revealed the comic's release schedule and the covers for each issue.

The first issue of these comics will be released on May 6, 2023, which is Free Comic Book day. It is being referred to as «Issue 0» and will focus on many of the new and returning characters to the game. This includes a fight between both Kimberly and Juri, with Luke training his special forces. After that, the Street Fighter 6 prequel comics will follow a weekly release schedule, releasing throughout the month of May on the 10th, 17th, 24th, and then the 31st.
