Stray already tells an immensely emotional tale about one lost cat finding its way back home. What better way to turn up the tension than to swap the game’s cat with your own? That’s what some modders are already doing, with tons of mods on the Nexus Mods website featuring a bunch of personal felines. These cats are reskins of people’s favorite furry friends, such as this cat named Jessy, who is based on a real cat named Jessy.
Of course, you might not be able to do that reskinning work yourself (that sounds a little violent for a cat). But there are users like Hacktix, who have created some felines commissioned by those who want to see their own cat in the game. Take this cat named Luna, who again, is based on someone’s real cat named Luna. As modders get more into the Stray scene, it might be time to commission a mod of your own if you want to submit your cat through cyberpunky puzzles and stress.
If you don’t have a cat of your own to subject to the game, that’s okay. There are tons of other mods out there for you right now, including a mod that allows you to play as the Monday hater, Garfield. (It really looks like Garfield!) You can also go in the weird direction too and play as CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This one is a little weirder and creepier, as you watch a human lunge around like a cat, but I’m still for it.
We loved Stray and its inventive puzzles, setting, and premise (and maybe one of Jason’s eight cats will be featured in a mod soon). If you’re interested in getting a neat mod of your own, checking out the Nexus Mods page.
