The newly released Stray has sneaked in a reference to Gravity Falls. Stray is about an orange tabby cat trying to escape from a crumbling futuristic city. As the cat, the player traverses through the city exploring the area and interacting with robots. Since its release, Stray has earned high marks from reviewers.
Gravity Falls ran on Disney Channel and Disney XD from 2012 to 2016. Now, ten years later, memories of the show still stay fresh in the minds of fans. Most notably are the characters, the monsters, and the mystery surrounding the journals. The journals were a series of cryptic writings, containing detailed notes about the various creatures found in Gravity Falls, as well as hidden clues towards what Stanford Pines was up to. There were three journals in total, recognizable by the red cover, metal plate corners, and a numbered gold-colored six-fingered hand symbol on the front. Each of these journals played a key part in unraveling the mysteries within Gravity Falls.

Twitter user TheMysteryofGF spotted a book within Stray that looks to be a blatant reference to Gravity Falls. Placed prominently on a bookshelf is a large book with a red leather cover, metal corners, and a large pawprint with a symbol right on the front, exactly like the journals in Gravity Falls. The similarities are remarkable, and it seems very unlikely that this is a coincidence. The book can be found early on in Stray, in a library within the first major hub the player finds. It doesn't seem to be anything the player can interact with, but those with a keen eye and a love for Gravity Falls can still spot and enjoy the reference.
