The end of the smash Netflix hit Stranger Things is officially in sight. The series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have announced that it will come to an end after its fifth season.
It has been 3 years since Stranger Things has had a new episode. Stranger Things first premiered on Netflix in 2016 and quickly rose to success. Its first season included eight episodes that introduced the young group of characters and the confusing world of the Upside Down. Season 2 premiered in 2017, while season 3 was released in 2019.

The Duffer Brothers posted a typed note on Netflix's social media that laid out the future of Stranger Things. They announced that Stranger Things' fourth season will premiere in two volumes. The first will release on May 27, 2022, while the second volume will release on July 1, 2022. «So that's the good news,» the Duffers wrote. «It's coming soon. And it's bigger than ever.» This news was also accompanied by four new posters that preview focal settings for the characters of Stranger Things, all of which feature the phrase, «Every ending has a beginning.» The Duffers also announced in their letter that Stranger Things would come to an end after its fifth season.
«With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one,» the Duffers wrote.
