Season 4 of Netflix's hit Stranger Things fascinated and entertained fans with several storylines that all resulted in a totally epic and unforgettable final episode. When viewers were told that this season would feature longer than usual episodes, it became clear that a lot would be going on. And while for the most part, these episodes are brilliantly crafted and a lot of fun to watch, it's fair to say that fans noted some plotlines that could have been left out. At the end of the day, viewers enjoy seeing the main characters lending each other a hand and joking around despite the evil that they're facing, and anything that takes the show away from this is a problem.
There is one storyline in particular that feels unnecessary, as it doesn't serve an important role and could have easily been avoided.

The most unnecessary part of season 4 has to be the military team looking for Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). It seems like this storyline serves two purposes: it allowed Eleven to escape Project Nina and it gave the show a way to kill Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine). However, these plotlines could have still happened, even if the military wasn't on the lookout for Eleven. While season 4 of Stranger Things connects storylines, this one felt like too much.
In the season 4 episode «Papa,» Lt. Colonel Jack Sullivan (Sherman Augustus) and his team arrive at Project Nina, and in an epic scene, Eleven kills Brenner and escapes for good. When Eleven tells Brenner, “Now I know the truth. It’s you. You are the monster," it's one of the most memorable Stranger Things season 4 quotes. Eleven then uses her powers to end Brenner's life.
