Stranger Things' creators say that season 4 very, very long. Stranger Things is a sci-fi horror drama that premiered on Netflix on July 15, 2016. The series, created by the Duffer brothers, follows the town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a group of friends uncover supernatural forces and government secrets when a young boy goes missing. Season 3 of Stranger Things concluded on July 4, 2019, and a fourth season was quickly confirmed by Netflix.
However, due to Covid-19, season 4 ofStranger Things was delayed. In fact, it was only quite recently that a release date for season 4 was officially confirmed. Stranger Things season 4 will release in two parts, with volume 1 premiering on May 27, 2022, and volume 2 following on July 1. The Duffer brothers also confirmed that the season will consist of 9 episodes and that it will boast a runtime nearly twice that of its previous seasons. Few details have been given about season 4, but it will see Hopper (David Harbour) imprisoned in Russia and making his escape. Meanwhile, back home, the friend group has been separated after the Battle of Starcourt, but will soon be brought together by another supernatural threat.

In a podcast episode of Present Company With Krista Smith (via Netflix), Stranger Things creator, Ross Duffer, teased season 4. Duffer indicated that fans will be pleased with season 4, but that it is very, very long. This is one of the reasons why the season has been so long in the making. Duffer said, "I think they’ll be happy when they see it. It’s very, very long, which is why it’s taking us a very long time..."
