Steve Carell wants to cast his famous pals in the next entry in the Minions franchise. Carell stars as a young Gru in the most recent film in the Despicable Me franchise, Minions: The Rise of Gru. Rise of Gru is the sequel to 2015's Despicable Me spinoff movie Minions. In Rise of Gru, Carell stars alongside a star-studded voice cast including Pierre Coffin, Alan Arkin, Michelle Yeoh, Taraji P. Henson, Steve Coogan, Danny Trejo, and Julie Andrews.
Carell has played Gru for over ten years, starting with the original Despicable Me in 2010. Since then, he acted in both its sequels, Despicable Me 2 and Despicable 3, and now reprises the role again in the prequel Rise of Gru. In Rise of Gru, Carell is tasked with the challenge of voicing a young version of Gru as Rise of Gru tells the story of Gru's childhood and how he came to meet the minions. Carell is still slated to play Gru for at least a while longer, as Despicable Me 4 is currently in the works.

Now, Carell imagines who he would cast in future sequels: Will Ferrell. In a recent interview with Sky News, Carell discussed how much fun it has been to provide his voice in the Despicable Me films. He would also love for one of his famous friends and fellow actors to be a part of that fun, especially Ferrell. Check out Carell's complete statement below:
«I'd love Stephen Colbert to be in one, I would love Will Ferrell to be in one, I mean, boy, any one of my friends I'd love to do one. They're so much fun because they're very collaborative, you can play around, you can kind of try anything, there's no wrong way to do it, and I think you can tell when you watch them, they're very freewheeling.
