While promoting his most recent film, Minions: The Rise of Gru, actor Steve Carell shared a story about one of his worst audition experiences, which involved some very disgusting French fries.
While Carell has had a long and impactful career as both a comedic and dramatic actor, he wasn't always the household name he is today. Around the early 2000s, Carell's career took an upturn when he was cast in a role that would come to define his entire career: the inept but lovable Scranton paper company manager Michael Scott in the hit NBC sitcom The Office. Carell portrayed Scott for seven seasons on the award-winning sitcom, which earned him wide recognition and accolades. Around this time, Carell began to star in several big studio comedies, including hit films such as Judd Apatow's The 40-Year-Old Virgin and the Will Farrell comedy, Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Carell told a story from when he was a young up-and-coming actor trying to make it in the industry. According to Carell, one of his early auditions for a fast-food commercial involved some very dry, very stale day-old French fries. «I remember I was auditioning for a fast food restaurant commercial, and I had to eat fries for the audition,» Carell said. «But it so happened that the fries were a day or two old, and they were very dry. I'm even drying up just thinking about it. And once I ate a couple of the fries, I started choking because they were so dry. I couldn't even say the lines, and I didn't get the part.»
