SpaceX's satellite internet service continues to expand at a rapid pace, with Starlink now available in 32 countries and ready to ship immediately.
Starlink announced the expansion to 32 countries in a tweet, with a link to the mapping feature SpaceX launched back in March. It shows every country where Starlink is already available, but also those where it is either coming soon or there's a waitlist for the necessary kits to arrive.
What's most surprising about this announcement isn't the number of countries, but Stalink being available immediately in so many locations. Starlink apologized last month for its "rapid expansion" putting a strain on customer support, increased prices due to inflation, and the $25 Ethernet Adapter is reselling for $300 due to limited supplies. However, the global chip shortage clearly isn't having that big of an impact on Starlink manufacturing if it can so readily ship out kits.
The internet service has demonstrated how rapidly it can move into a new market after Starlink dishes arrived in Ukraine two days after the country requested access. A month later and over 10,000 Starlink dishes were helping to keep Ukraine online and serve 150,000 users. Right now, the focus is on preventing Russia from hacking the service.
