The opening of Starfield has been published online after someone obtained a copy of the game ahead of its official release.
While we won’t link to the footage here, the leaker published around 40 minutes of off-screen footage from the start of the game, showing the opening gameplay section and character customisation options.
Multiple YouTube uploads of the footage are no longer available due to copyright claims made by Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media, but the footage is also circulating on social media sites including Twitter.
Starfield was originally scheduled to be released last November, but in May of 2022 the game was delayed to the first half of 2023. Bethesda announced a further delay this March, with Starfield now set for release on September 6.
The publisher said last week that Starfield had gone gold, indicating that the main development of the game has been completed. Players can preload the title on Xbox Series X/S now, and on Steam on August 30.
Several editions of Starfield are available to pre-order. The $70/£70 Standard Edition, which includes the base game, will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.
The $100/£100 Digital Premium Edition and the $300/£250 Constellation Edition both come with Starfield’s first story expansion, Shattered Space, upon its release, plus up to five days of early access to the game.
Both editions also include the Constellation Skin Pack, and soundtrack and art book as digital extras. Additionally, the Constellation Edition includes a steelbook display case, the Starfield Chronomark Watch and case, and a Constellation patch.
