Starfield update 1.10.31 is now available for download across all platforms. This is an absolutely massive patch that introduces over 500 changes to Starfield, ranging from new gameplay features and UI tweaks to performance improvements and bug fixes.
Bethesda has been averaging one Starfield update per month since releasing its sci-fi RPG in September 2023. While those patches started out modestly, they soon ramped up to fairly comprehensive revisions of the game. Starfield update 1.10.31 marks another culmination of that trend; with 507 changes in total, this is by far the biggest patch that the RPG has received since its debut.
Both PC and Xbox gamers can download the latest version of the game as of today, March 19. The changelog that Bethesda has attached to this release is identical to the patch notes that accompanied Starfield's beta update 1.10.30. Taking to Twitter, the developer thanked its fandom for its continued feedback that helped inform the contents of its newest patch.
As for what exactly is on offer here, Starfield update 1.10.31 introduces a handful of much-requested quality-of-life changes, like the ability to open doors and harvest resources while having the Scanner open, or automatically switch between active quests using the game's waypoint system. The Starfield photo mode has also received one notable addition in the form of the self-explanatory Expressions and Poses menu, which is reminiscent of that from Cyberpunk 2077.
In terms of gameplay changes, the lockpicking mini-game has been made significantly easier by virtue of the fact that undoing a move no longer requires using up a digipick. The effect of crew bonuses on ship weapon recharge times in targeting mode should now also be calculated correctly, while the Alien Reanimation power will work on both flying and aquatic creatures, as was always the intention, following the patch.
