As Bethesda's silence on the future of begins to frustrate the game's community,some players have taken it upon themselves to suggest a simple fix for one of the game's most annoying issues. Since the massive sci-fi RPG was released in late 2023, fans have looked to the developer to address the many quality-of-life issues that made it into the final version. Some patches and updates have been pushed out over the last few months addressing some of these problems but the issue of clunky quest design has yet to be meaningfully improved.
Taking to Reddit, user JinansBreath shared their idea for how to fix the problem of players needing to travel halfway across the galaxy to simply endure a seconds-long conversation with an NPC: A radio.
Their idea includes the ability to simply call important quest givers upon completing a section of their mission to either complete it or begin the next step of the storyline, thus preventing the needless runaround. JinansBreath's idea was well-received by the community with many calling for Bethesda to take note and implement the function in a future update.
The suggestion to add a communication line between players' ships and NPCs is just one of many requests enthusiasts have made since the game's launch. In lieu of any official content patches, talented users have begun making their own improvements to the game through mods, fixing many prevailing issues like the lack of a mini-map in cities, the cluttered and confusing AI, and even the absence of a music-playing radio. With the help of a few mods, astronauts can now travel the stars while listening to a selection of specially-selected music.
Some of the most common mods merely adjust the game's settings, tweaking the overall appearance and animations with enhanced textures, boosted frame rates, and generally slicker appearance.
