Stardew Valley 1.6's New Giant Crop Is A Terrifying Addition To Your Farm
's 1.6 update was released for PC devices on March 19, 2024, adding plenty of enhancements to gameplay and visuals, along with completely new content and features. Among them was the introduction of four new crops and two giant crops.
As spotted by Redditor Ducks_On_Lilypads, since the 1.6 update, during the Winter season of year 2, a giant Mr. Qi plant is one of these new giant crops. The Qi fruit could previously be unlocked as part of Mr. Qi's challenges from the 1.5 update, which saw them finding Qi Beans around the world, growing them, and shipping them in massive quantities in a limited amount of time.
The new giant Qi fruit takes up nine times the space other crops do and towers over the player's character. Much like its smaller variants and Mr. Qi himself, it sports rounded sunglasses and a sly smile. Meanwhile, others simply asked how Ducks_On_Lilypads got so many Qi fruit seeds in the first place, as so many other normal ones surrounded the giant Qi plant. Ducks_On_Lilypads explained that they got 16 from chopping trees, 18 from mines and fishing, and then doubled the number of seeds from putting the ripe fruit in the seed maker, stating it took about two in-game weeks to do using deluxe speed grow for faster harvesting.

The giant Qi plant can also be kept long after doing Mr. Qi's quest, and if a player breaks this giant Qi plant, they will apparently get a message directly from Mr. Qi as well. Regardless of whether the giant Qi plant is considered nightmare fuel or not, it is certainly a fun upgrade to one of 's 1.5 update's most memorable quests.
