Warning! Spoilers ahead for Crimson Reign #2
In the latest issue of Star Wars' Crimson Reign, it's confirmed that the Empire's racist tendencies made Emperor Palpatine vulnerable and weak. While not a xenophobe himself, Palpatine tolerated and encouraged his Empire to be humanocentrist, excluding other alien races as it made it easier to rule and subjugate the galaxy. However, this new issue has proven the weakness of that mindset seeing as how it just put Palpatine's life at risk.
Following the events of War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Dawn has been reborn under Lady Qi'ra, the first love of Han Solo who left him to become Darth Maul's second in command. Following Maul's ultimate death in Star Wars Rebels, Qi'ra took over with the intention of destroying the Sith lords once and for all, seeking to topple the galaxy's uneven power structure that's been in Palpatine and Vader's favor for decades. As such, Lady Qi'ra hires Ochi of Bestoon for an assassination job involving the Emperor himself in Crimson Reign#2 from writer Charles Soule and artist Steven Cummings.

Interestingly enough, Ochi's mission is made extremely easy thanks to the Empire's speciesism, seeing as how nearly every single agent in service to the Empire is human. Rather than attempting to kill Palpatine directly, Ochi's mission was to kill his red-cloaked Imperial Guards, poisoning their food before they left to protect their Emperor. As such, Palpatine was in for quite the surprise the moment he stepped into his throne room, receiving the message loud and clear that Crimson Dawn is a force to be reckoned with and worth paying attention to.
