Elden Ring, the expansive open-world fantasy game by developer FromSoftware, takes place in the fictional world of The Land Between, and is definitely not set in Ohio — despite the fact that an ongoing meme indicates otherwise. Some intrepid Elden Ring players have taken action, changing the setting of the game on Wikipedia to reflect that the game does, in fact, take place in Ohio. Though the change on Wikipedia did not last long, the meme has spread like wildfire, and Elden Ring fans are having a field day creating their own Ohio-related jokes.
Elden Ring has a massive, gorgeously detailed open-world map, with a deeply developed storyline and expansive lore. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki and writer George R. R. Martin have given the Lands Between their own unique vibe, with dozens of beautiful vistas and equally dreadful ruins to explore and conquer. At the beginning of Elden Ring, players find most of the world's expansive map shrouded in mystery, making it difficult to see how big Elden Ring's world map actually is. Upon further exploration, players will discover more and more about the world of the Lands Between, and less and less (or, perhaps, nothing) about Cincinnati, Ohio.

The meme began on Wikipedia when an unknown Elden Ring fan updated the game's page to reflect that its setting was in a sort of post-apocalyptic Ohio after the fragmenting of the Elden Ring.
