As a founding member of the Avengers, Tony Stark aka Iron Man is one of the most iconic and popular Marvel heroes around, but in a past miniseries, Marvel reveals that Iron Man could be an even better hero if he wasn’t a walking meatbag. Suffice it to say, having a digital Tony doppelgänger list off all the reasons why being a human sucks really puts into perspective how Iron Man might benefit from not being human at all!
Shown in the third action-packed issue of 2007’s six-part limited series titled Iron Man: Hypervelocity, by Adam Warren and Brian Denham, this series sees Tony Stark in bad shape as he’s been incapacitated and hospitalized by some new, high-tech enemies on the streets. Forced to sit on the sidelines to recover, Tony had recently found a way to upload his digital consciousness into his suit so that in the event of serious injury, a version of himself can still safely pilot and utilize the armor.

Dubbed Tony 2.0, this sentient digital construct initially believes himself to be the true Tony Stark, and via pushing the limits of his “Hypervelocity” suit, which uses blindingly fast speed and thinking to accomplish feats a flesh and blood Tony would have a hard time pulling off, becomes a new kind of hero that’s as effective as he is efficient. Eventually giving readers a treat in the form of an internal monologue Tony 2.0 calls his “Top 5 Positives About No Longer Possessing An Organic Human Body,” Marvel proves that an Iron Man without the restrictions of a human body would be the ideal version of the hero.
