Stig Asmussen, director of both 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and this year's Jedi: Survivor, is leaving Respawn Entertainment for parts unknown. Asmussen had previously stated he envisioned a trilogy for protagonist Cal Kestis, but it seems that particular story will need to be helmed by another.
Word comes to us by way of Bloomberg, with an EA spokesperson providing further details, stating: «After careful thought and consideration, Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures, and we wish him the best of luck. Veteran Respawn leaders will be stepping up to guide the team as they continue their work on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.»
While this move does come as a surprise, at least Asmussen leaves on a high note. Still suffering from some performance issues, Jedi: Survivor remains a great game, which is never a given, especially considering it carries the Star Wars prefix. It remains to be seen where Asmussen lands, but we'll look forward to what comes next.
