A new Star Trek comic is on the way from IDW Publishing and its crew may be one of the most creative line-ups ever. The upcoming Star Trek #1 will feature a team of fan-favorite characters from multiple eras of the beloved sci-fi franchise.
Created in the 1960s by Gene Roddenberry, the saga of Star Trek began with the original television show of the same name. Since then, the franchise has become a powerhouse and has dominated several media landscapes. With movies, video games, novels, comic books and over 10 television shows, few franchises come close to having as wide-ranging a timeline asStar Trek. The last several years have seen a boom in new content with the advent of Paramount+, with the franchise getting three new shows as well as a new Star Trek movie on the horizon.

Riding the wave of current Star Trek love, a new ongoing series has been announced that may be the most ambitious comic in the series' entire history. IDW announced via the official Star Trek website that a new comic series would be premiering in October 2022. Star Trek #1 will come from the creative team of Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Ramon Rosanas. The new Star Trek comic features Deep Space Nine character Benjamin Sisko having returned with godlike powers after his trip through the Bajoran wormhole. But someone in the universe is killing the gods, and it's up to Sisko to assemble a crew to stop them. Sisko isn't the only fan-favorite character featured in the new series as preview art shows The Next Generation's Data as part of the team. There also appears to be a few newcomers such as the Andorian Sato and possibly Vulcan T'lir.
