Star Trek star Marina Sirtis says Star Trek: Picard season 3 gives TNG characters a proper send off. The Next Generation in 1987 brought Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek back to TV after an absence of almost twenty years. The syndicated show following the further adventures of the starship Enterprise went on to become classic television itself and is now as beloved as The Original Series.
The cast of TNG of course was later propelled to the same opportunity as the cast of TOS when they were brought back for a series of movies beginning with 1994’s Star Trek: Generations. The run of TNG movies would then continue until petering out with 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. Unfortunately that movie left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths and was seen as a sad swan song for the characters made famous by The Next Generation.

She said to Red Carpet News TV (via Trek Movie):
Well the producers—before we even started filming when they were talking to us about the project—did say that they felt that we hadn’t been given a proper send off in Nemesis. And that they wanted to send us off the right way, which I appreciated because this is something that’s taken up my life on and off since 1987. And I did feel that we were kind of discarded a little bit. But we were definitely cherished on this project.
