New stills from the upcoming Star Trek: Picard season 2 episode 7, “Monsters,” hint at an exploration of Jean-Luc Picard’s early past. Star Trek: Picard is currently coming toward the end of season 2, which has seen Admiral Picard and his makeshift crew transported into an alternate timeline by his old nemesis, the god-like alien trickster Q. The season will end when its final episode airs on May 5, and will be followed-up by a series ending season 3, which will see the return of the Star Trek: The Next Generation original main cast.

That relationship has become more complex in recent episodes of the series, as Orla Brady, the actor who plays Laris, is also playing the new character Tallinn, suggesting an in-universe connection exists between the two characters.
