Splatoon 3's Tableturf Battle mode is getting online play which will let players compete against each other. With Splatoon 3 already set to receive a new slew of weapons and maps, Tableturf Battle is starting to get the support many fans have been waiting for.
Tableturf Battle was revealed in the Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct as a Tetris-like competitive card game in which players compete in 1v1 battles against NPCs to fill in enough blocks on a board. It is similar in nature to the Splatoon series' signature Turf War multiplayer mode except players now compete to fill up a board rather than the surface of a map. Its inclusion in Splatoon 3 is most comparable to The Witcher 3's Gwent or Machine Strike in Horizon Forbidden West as an in-depth minigame that players can get lost in.

This mode has gotten relatively less support in previous Splatoon 3 updates, but this will change with next week's launch of the Fresh Season update. Players will be able to play Tableturf Battle online against other human players through the upstairs tables seen in the multiplayer lobby as well as locally through the Shoal. This update will also bring 23 new cards that will give players more to look for when it comes to crafting the best Splatoon 3 Tableturf Battle deck.
Some of these new cards are designed after the new weapons coming to Splatoon 3 in Fresh Season such as the Z+F Splat Charger and Super Chump special on top of the older returning weapons like the N-ZAP '89.
