The first villain Spider-Man faced in the MCU was the Vulture, and while he was a brutal foe in the film, the Vulture was actually Spider-Man's greatest ally in the comics–he just didn’t know it.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: Homecoming, a man named Adrian Toomes was the owner of a salvaging company in New York City prior to the events of the first Avengers film in which the city was attacked by the Chitauri. After Damage Control–an organization that essentially monitors and cleans up after superhero mishaps–steps in and prohibits Toomes from salvaging any of the Chitauri tech, he loses his business and is forced to go into a life of crime in order to provide for his family. However, at the peak of Vulture's villainous escapades, Spider-Man becomes the MCU’s newest hero and he makes it his mission to stop the Vulture and bring him to justice.

In The Amazing Spider-Man #2 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, readers are introduced to the Vulture who is similar to his MCU counterpart but is utterly unsympathetic as he uses his wingsuit to steal valuables for his own personal gain rather than to provide for his family. While Spider-Man was anxious to take down the Vulture and prove himself to be a hero the residents of New York City can get behind, he was more worried about how he was going to help his Aunt May pay rent as his Uncle Ben had recently died and May was in poor health. So, after being turned away from a number of positions due to a lack of experience, he learns that a picture of this new criminal, the Vulture, is worth a lot of money to local papers since he flies too fast and too high for any photographer to get a clear
