Tekken 8 has seemingly been teased
Bandai Namco has seemingly released a brief teaser for Tekken 8.
During the Evo 2022 fighting game tournament this past weekend, the publisher revealed a trailer announcing a free update for Tekken 7, as well as news on the game’s Global Finals.
However, the trailer then ended with a brief teaser showing the cutscene in which Kazuya drops Heihachi off the edge of a cliff at the end of the first Tekken.
The trailer ended with Kazuya smiling, then the screen changing to a far more realistic render of Kazuya, with the words “Get Ready”.
Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada then appeared briefly on stage and jumped around hugging the Evo hosts, before waving and walking off the stage.
Although the teaser didn’t explicitly state that it was for Tekken 8, there hasn’t been a new Tekken game for seven years so a new one is due.
Tekken 7 was released in 2015 and has been receiving regular DLC updates since then.
Indeed, the ‘Tekken 8’ teaser appeared at the end of a Tekken 7 trailer declaring that a free update would be coming on August 17.
The new update will include “new tactics” and balancing adjustments to ensure the game is fairer for each character.

Harada stated last year thatTekken X Street Fighter hadn’t been entirely cancelled yet, despite it having been announced 12 years ago.
In an episode of his video talk show Harada’s Bar, Harada appeared to state that the game had been scrapped.
However, he then took to Twitter to explain that the subtitles hadn’t been properly translated, and that he meant to say it had been shelved, but not permanently cancelled.
