Netflix has released a new Sonic Prime trailer.
Viewable below, it shows Sonic travelling through the multiverse after a fight with Eggman takes an unexpected turn.
“Join Sonic and friends as they fight to fix the Shatterverse in Sonic Prime!” reads the official blurb accompanying the trailer.
Netflix announced Sonic Prime last February when it said the series would consist of 24 episodes.
Set for release on December 15, it’s billed as “a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse” rests in Sonic’s hands, as well as “a journey of self-discovery and redemption”.
Canadian production company WildBrain is animating the series at its Vancouver studio, with Sonic Prime’s showrunners and executive producers coming from Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Big Hero 6).
Sega released Sonic Frontiers this month for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC.
VGC’s Sonic Frontiers review called the game “the kick up the backside 3D Sonic has been crying out for”, describing it as “a truly accomplished effort that hits a lot more than it misses”.
The Sonic the Hedgehog series debuted in June 1991 in North America on the Sega Genesis.
Sega recently claimed that the Sonic franchise has surpassed 1.5 billion sales and downloads (including free-to-play).
