The Sonic Origins file size has been revealed, at least on Switch, and the base edition clocks in at 3.6GB, quite a bit larger than Sonic Mania.
For reference, Sonic Mania sits comfortably at 390MB, which is great news for folks who don’t have a ton of space on their Switch. Sonic Origins, again, is nearly 10 times that amount, and the Digital Deluxe Edition adds a little heft, coming in at 3.8GB (the Nintendo store size is erroneous, and the actual eShop listing shows the correct size).
As a reminder, that Sonic Origins file size includes the following games (plus extras):
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes “bonus hard missions, additional music tracks, backgrounds, character animations, and an island camera,” which accounts for that extra space.
I hope after all this, and all of the confusing pre-order layers, that this ends up paying off. Sonic could always use a win, and coming off of the successful film would be great timing. Plus, with a quality product, the company can set up Sonic Frontiers for success if it continues to ride that wave. As usual though it is Sonic: so anything is possible.
