Sonic the Hedgehog made his LEGO debut in 2016 as a Level Pack for LEGO Dimensions. As the first official LEGO Sonic set, it included a minifigure of the blue blur, as well as a miniature replication of Tails’ Tornado biplane and the Sonic Speedster, modeled after Sonic’s car from his racing sub-series.
Sadly, LEGO Dimensions didn’t stick around. But that wasn’t the end of Sonic’s collaboration with the LEGO brand. Last year marked the debut of the LEGO Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone set. While LEGO Ideas sets are generally a one-time thing, Sonic will be sticking around for a bit as he’s set to receive four new sets later this year.

Hopefully, this series ends up as popular as the other LEGO video game lines (Minecraft, Super Mario, Overwatch) because I’d love to see more characters from the series as minifigures for me to collect. Rogue the Bat and Cream the Rabbit? Yes, please! And who wouldn’t want a Knuckles set, especially with his solo series for Paramount+ going into production?
