Some Of Pokémon TCG's First Surging Sparks Cards Have Appeared Online
The first cards from ’s future expansion have appeared online as part of the upcoming set. will be sold exclusively in Japan in September, but a portion of its contents will be adapted into the set, which will be released in Western markets in November. At the moment, players and collectors are experiencing the expansion, while the set is due to arrive in mid-September. After that, the next expansion in 2024 will be.
According to a report by Pokébeach, three new cards for, which will likely be released in, have been officially revealed. The three cards compose the Generation 9 Water-type starter evolutionary family, with a Quaxly, a Quaxwell, and a Quaquaval. A few other cards from the set were revealed before, but the three new Water-type cards allow players to have a better perspective into what they can expect when the set is adapted into for later this year.
25 years after its debut, these Pokémon cards are reappearing in next year's sets — and we couldn't be more excited about their arrival.
The evolutionary line provides some good benefits during matches, mostly stemming from Quaquaval’s Ability, called Up Tempo. With it, once during the player’s turn, they may put a card from their hand on the bottom of their deck and, if they do, they can draw five cards. This is a great way of renewing the player’s hand, especially if they have spent most of it already. Seeing Abilities can be triggered from the Bench, Quaquaval does not even have to be moved to the Active spot in.
Combat-wise, the cards do not match the potential of stronger cards, such as Pokémon ex cards, but Quaxly could be a great starting creature to have in the Active spot since it has a chance of tripling the damage done to opponents – which can be game-changing during the early stages of a match. The Energy costs for the entire evolutionary family’s attacks are also quite cheap.
This makes them quick options for finalizing some of the opponent’s Pokémon and drawing Prize Cards in.
