Sifu arrives tomorrow on PlayStation and PC via the Epic Games Store, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait to get your kung fu fix. Developer Sloclap released a short live-action movie to get you primed for Sifu by showcasing a few excellent fight scenes and some of the game’s mechanics.
"At The Cost Of Time" comes courtesy of Sloclap and director, writer, and editor Christopher C. Cowan. Our nameless protagonist (played by Alvin Hsing) reveals that his family has been killed and he's tracked down the five people responsible. He decides to first go after Fajar (played by Jen Seung), who's holed up in a warehouse that's a front for drugs.

Just like the game, our nameless hero walks into the warehouse as a young man and beats the crap out of anyone who gets in his way--only to eventually wind up with a sword in the gut. But rather than staying dead, our hero resurrects a little older, a little wiser, and with a way bigger beard.
This ageing mechanic is the centerpiece of Sifu. Every time you die, you come back to life as a more powerful but older version of yourself. You start off at age 20 and can go as high as 75 before the game caps out. That doesn't mean you have 55 chances to beat the game, however, as defeating bosses or groups of enemies can make your age counter go down too.
We don’t get to see that part in this short film, but we do get to see many of the same kung fu moves that you’ll be able to perform in-game.
The early reviews for Sifu are generally pretty positive, except for maybe the ones on PlayStation where they're having a bit of trouble getting the game to come out. Some sort of bug is delaying the game's launch by 13 days. Hopefully, PlayStation can get that
