A new VR mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is allowing players to pet dogs to their heart's content with a fun application of ragdoll physics. Despite now being over a decade old, Skyrim continues to entertain many gamers with new mods and a seemingly endless supply of physics-breaking glitches. Now, players can pet dogs in VR — a nice milestone for Skyrim mods.
While wandering the frozen tundra of Skyrim's open-world wilderness, many players might wish for a bit of companionship. Although there are many followers in the game who are more than happy to act as comrades-in-arms (and oddly genial pack mules), there is still something inherently attractive about the simple presence of a pet animal. Many dogs roam Skyrim, from the lonely Meeko to the unusually talkative Barbas. The base game's failure to allow players to show these faithful hounds some affection has been a point of mild contention for some players, although nothing serious, and is something that has naturally been rectified through the use of dog-focused Skyrim mods in the past.

Now a new VR mod uploaded to Nexus Mods has taken things one step further. PLANCK — Physical Animation and Character Kinetics utilizes Skyrim Special Edition's ragdoll physics to alter character animations, thereby allowing the player to freely move their arms at all times. This also means that NPCs can be physically affected by strikes from weapons, grabbed and held, and react to a range of other such interactions.
