The next roadmap of content releases for The Sims 4 has been teased by developer Maxis on Twitter. Previous roadmaps for the popular life simulator have detailed both free and paid content that will be available for players to download in the coming months. Since its release back in 2014, there have been over 30 expansions.
The news comes following a tweet from EA content creator Julian/Iron Seagull to the official The Sims 4 account somewhat teasingly asking, «Hey @TheSims you awake? It’s roadmap time lol.» The Official Sims 4 account replied with a cheeky NSync GIF indicating news that a roadmap of new content will be released sometime in May.

The news might please some fans that have had to wait patiently for a new expansion for the aging Sims 4. The last large expansion called Cottage Living was released back in July 2022. Since then, players have been offered a new Game Pack in the form of the problematic My Wedding Stories, but there has been little else in the way of major new additions to the game.
The Sims 4 offers players four different sizes of DLC, the largest being Expansion Packs, which offer entire new areas and new gameplay mechanics, while Game Packs typically only introduce one new play mechanic. There are also Stuff Packs and Kits, which both offer small amounts of items, furniture, and clothing that are associated with a specific theme.
The Sims 4 has also received some free content updates in the past few months adding base content to the game such as new foods from around the world, new cultural clothing items, new hairstyles, and clothing designed by partnered content creators through the game's new Sims Delivery Express system.
