Following its infamously disappointing release, No Man's Sky has managed to turn the tides and earn back its player base by continuously and systematically releasing substantial content updates and feature-level revisions. These seem to be far from done, with the latest one having just received its official showcase trailer.
The aptly-titled Outlaws Update for No Man's Sky bumps the game up to version 3.85 and revamps its space combat, as well as introduces the ability for players to team up with AI via the new Squadrons feature. Major new content additions are listed as well, with players getting access to outlaw star systems, various types of contraband, and lots more.

Eagle-eyed fans of the game may have noticed No Man's Sky teasing pirate-themed content over the past couple of hours and, indeed, that's precisely what the Outlaws Update is. Available for download right now, Outlaws revamps and rebalances the game's spaceship combat systems in a variety of ways. Punchier gunfire and heftier explosions promise a significantly more satisfying combat experience, and the addition of traveling frigates and freighters visible from planets makes the game livelier than ever before.
The game now also has an entirely new class of spaceships for players to chase after: the Solar Sail Starship. This coveted new vessel isn't the only new item that players can look forward to using, however, since the Outlaws Update also introduces wearable capes and hoods, as well as a number of other customization options.
