Shazam: Fury of the Godsdirector David F. Sandberg has an honest response to the movie opening against Avatar 2. A sequel to Shazam! began development soon after its release in April 2019, when it grossed $366 million at the worldwide box office. Henry Gayden soon returned to start hashing out the script, and Chris Morgan (Fast & Furious) was then brought on to punch up his work, followed by Sandberg's return soon after. The Shazam sequel will also see most of the original cast back in their roles.
Zachary Levi returns to lead the cast as the titular superhero, the champion of the Wizard Shazam (Djimon Hounsou) and superhero alter-ego of teenager and foster child Billy Batson (played by Asher Angel), who can transform into adult form by saying the magic word «Shazam!» Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, and Jovan Armand return as Billy's foster family, who all gained superpowers at the end of the first film. Plots details for the sequel are extremely scarce, though they will seemingly be going up against the daughters of Atlas, played by Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and West Side Story breakout star Rachel Zegler.
