In preparation for the upcoming release of on June 23, Sega has announced that a number of classic games will have their standalone digital versions delisted from most online stores.
The titles set to be delisted on May 20 are and , , and . These are all of the games that will be included in the upcoming collection. The only exceptions are the Sega Ages versions of and , which will stay available on the Nintendo Switch, and , which will continue to be available through Nintendo Switch Online +.
This planned removal may tie into several other Sega games that are reportedly also leaving PlayStation Now in May. Though is the only -related title to be taken down (given it’s the only game currently on the service that’s part of the upcoming collection), a number of other prominent entries are being pulled. This includes both titles, , and , as well as titles from other Sega franchises like the series and .
This situation brings to mind when Rockstar Games did the same thing with multiple entries before the bumpy launch of . Rockstar did apologize, but only the original PC versions made their way back to the platform.
