Fans looking forward to captaining their own pirate ships in Sea of Thieves' seventh season will need to wait a little longer, as the new «Captaincy» update is being delayed. When the colorful pirate simulator launched in 2018, many of its players felt the game lacked enough content to keep swashbuckling fun and interesting. However, after Sea Of Thieves received an array of free updates and additional content, the game has become a truly enjoyable multiplayer experience, allowing friends to sail the seas together.
After releasing seasonal updates and several interesting crossover events, Sea of Thieves has had more than 30 million players. A Pirate's Life expansion featured Pirates of the Caribbean-themed quests and the opportunity to fight alongside Captain Jack Sparrow to unlock special loot and unique ship designs have introduced Halo Infinite and Borderlands-themed pirate ships. To add to the fun currently available in Sea of Thieves, the new Season 7 update promises to take ship customization to the next level. Players will finally be able to captain their own ships and customize even more than before. Unfortunately, developers Rare has announced it needs extra time before the season's launch.

The Sea of Thieves Season 7 Captaincy update has switched its release date from July 21 to August 4, 2022. As reported by Game Rant, the news was posted on the Sea of Thieves website by the game's Executive Producer Joe 'Three Sheets' Neate. The Captaincy update promises to let pirate players name their own ships and trade more easily with new in-game currency called «cash-in points.» However, the additions require an extra two weeks of development
