The now almost decade-old indie titlePapers, Please will be coming to mobile phones next month according to developer Lucas Pope. The «dystopian document thriller» skyrocketed to popularity at its release in 2013 due to a new and original take on frequently monotonous job simulation games.Papers, Please is already available on PC and macOS and received a port on the iPad in 2014 and the PlayStation Vita in 2017.
Lucas Pope's Papers, Please is set in a fictional Soviet-esque country called Arstotzka, with the player taking on the role of a border control agent checking the documentation of those coming in and out of the totalitarian nation. While the gameplay is fairly simple, the story filled with moral dilemmas and dark themes drew players to the indie title. From the thrilling dangers of the border to taking a position on corruption, Papers, Please is anything but predictable and monotonous. The intriguing story of Papers, Please even inspired a short film in 2018, that also was well-liked.

Papers, Please developer Lucas Pope has announced the dystopian thriller game will finally be available on Android and iOS this year. Pope Tweeted a previewing image of gameplay on a phone alongside a caption stating Papers, Please "but small" will be launching on August 5, 2022. In the replies, Pope confirms the port took roughly eight months to develop and also jokes that his darling title will launch on Playstation and Xbox in 2031.
