A few weeks back, the Ministry of Electronics and IT announced that WhatsApp users will soon be able to use the DigiLocker services within their app. DigiLocker, which is the cloud-based service provided by the Government of India, allows users to access their authenticated documents virtually. And with this feature, now you can even save and access your important documents like Aadhaar card, Driving license, educational documents, and more via WhatsApp only. Know here in simple steps how to use DigiLocker on your WhatsApp. Before starting, ensure that you have saved MyGov WhatsApp helpline number (9013151515) on your mobile. Once it is saved, then let’s begin the DigiLocker services on WhatsApp.
If you are accessing DigiLocker for the first time, the you need to visit the website and sign up while providing asked information. This will sent an OTP to your registered number.
After that, it will ask you to enter a username and create the account. Once you are succesfully login, you can save your documents on DigiLocker. Just tap on the Upload option and select the documents to upload.
Once your DigiLocker has been set up, then open WhatsApp and find the recently saved MyGov helpline number on your device to make it available among your WhatsApp contacts. Ensure that you type the name that you have saved for the MyGov WhatsApp number on your phone.
Open the MyGov WhatsApp number chat and text ‘Hi’.
As soon as you send a message, a series of messages will begin showing up in your chat menu. With that, you will find two clickable options at the end of the message - Cowin services and DigiLocker services.
