The Saints Row series has always given players the freedom to build their own custom crime boss in any way they see fit, and a new leak suggests the upcoming reboot will have a standalone character creator. Developer Deep Silver Volition announced a new installment of its open-world crime franchise during last year’s Gamescom livestream, showing off an outlandish Saints Row trailer that highlighted a brand-new group of Saints in the fictional city of Santo Ileso. While this new Saints Row game is moving away from the original characters and setting of the previous Saints Row titles, Volition has promised that many of the franchise’s core tenants will remain — such as a wacky supporting cast and over-the-top mayhem.
In-depth customization options are also a part of this, as the developers behind the upcoming Saints Row reboot claim that this new entry will allow players to create their in-game avatar with a level of flexibility not previously seen in the series. Everything about Saints Row's playable Boss character can be altered, from their hair and skin to their voice and walking animations. This will allow fans to make unique custom characters or even recreate a celebrity or fictional character to roam the mean streets of Santo Ileso. Players will also be able to customize the Saint gang’s vehicles in the new Saint’s Row reboot with a wide variety of paint jobs and weapons — including porta-potty wrecking balls and ejector seats.
