According to Deadline, Watts will play Babe Paley, a powerful socialite of New York in the 1960s and 1970s who Capote became close to after the success of his novel In Cold Blood. Oscar-nominated Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) will direct all eight episodes of Feud season 2. Tony and Pulitzer-nominated Jon Robin Baitz (A Fair Country) is also attached as the showrunner and wrote all episodes in Feud season 2.

Watts usually opts for film projects as opposed to television, which may be a sign that the script for Feud season 2 is compelling enough to make her forgo another film role. Feud season 2 was originally supposed to center around the marriage between Princess Diana and Prince Charles, but FX decided to pivot from that idea. With the recent resurgence of Princess Diana content from The Crown to Spencer, viewers will have a less known story to sink their teeth into with Feud season 2 and will have to judge for themselves whether the five-year wait will be worth it once it premieres on FX.
