Well known publisher Gameforge has recently announced an exciting new update for long-running browser-based MMORTS Ikariam. The update, named «Gods of Olympus,» is slated to enhance this free-to-play strategy title with fresh content later this winter.
According to Gameforge, this update will introduce a new «Mythology» field of research, allowing players to delve deeper into the rich tapestry and history of Ancient Greek mythology. In Ikariam, gamers will have the opportunity to build a Gods’ Shrine and select one of six new deities to worship. These gods, all reflections of Greek mythology, will bestow various production bonuses on their devotees, based on their mythological roles.
Players can interact with these deities through daily tasks to earn «Favor.» This Favor, when donated, will satisfy the gods and, in turn, increase the production bonuses players can harness to build up their empire faster. The new gods include Dionysus, who boosts wine production, Pan, enhancing wood production, Hephaestus, increasing sulfur production, Tyche, boosting marble production, Theia, enhancing crystal production, and Plutus, augmenting gold production.
Alongside these divine additions, the update will revamp the daily tasks system, injecting more variety and integrating it seamlessly with the new gods' system. Andrew Peggs, Product Manager at Gameforge, expressed excitement about the update, stating it not only introduces new gameplay elements but also is built in response to player feedback. The team is aiming to ensure that Ikariam continues to provide an engaging experience even 15 years after its initial launch.
