Roller Champions finally has a release date. After years of development, closed alpha and beta tests, and a slight delay, Roller Champions will host its opening season on May 25.
In case it wasn’t immediately obvious from the name, Roller Champions is a free-to-play competitive multiplayer roller derby game. Two teams of three players square off with the first to score five points the winner.

Just like real roller derbies, it’s no-holds-barred when you enter the arena. Players are free to tackle, elbow drop, or flying roller-skate jump kick opponents in order to gain control of the ball. Players can also pass, dunk, or even bodily dive through the opposition’s hoop in order to score points. Performing laps of the arena makes scoring more worthwhile, but it’s also a risk as it allows opposing players plenty of time to set up a defensive line.
Today’s trailer shows us a full game in action. The diverse home team somehow comes back from a four-nothing deficit in order to win the game. The crowd goes wild as the Roller Champions trophy is bestowed upon the three heroes.
Previous beta tests have confirmed that Roller Champions will have ranked play, quick matches, custom matches, and a sandbox skate park where you can just roll around and be social. There’s cross-progression, so players can swap from platform to platform and keep their battle pass progress, but no mention of cross-play was made. Ubisoft might be looking to get some more data before letting PC and console players face off against each
