The War Within introduces interesting new mechanics to both Crafting and Gathering Professions. While players expect Profession updates each time a new expansion launches, The War Within is bringing an unusual number of changes that can alter how the flow of a Profession works, or make the Crafting or Gathering process more difficult than it has been in the past.

The War Within Herbalism Guide Profession Overview in The War Within
Khaz Algar Herbalism isn't introducing as drastic a change as some other Professions have seen: Herbalists will still have the familiar gameplay loop of flying around the new zones in The War Within looking for herbs to overload and pick. There is, however, a large change in how Rich Soil will be utilized; players will now interact with soil in a specific location instead of finding it randomly throughout the world.
The Hallowfall Farm in Beledar's Bounty serves as a sort of Herbalism hub in The War Within, with concentrated patches of Rich Soil in one place for players to plant Seeds. These soil patches are open world, not instanced like Sunsong Ranch in Pandaria. This allows for a big quality of life change for many — no more flying around with your bags full of Seeds hoping to find soil; instead, you can fly in, plant everything at once, collect your herbs, and go about your business.
This does, however, create an interesting possibility for players to come together to maximize herb yield. Since the Hallowfall Farm isn't instanced, multiple players can harvest herbs from each seed, just like multiple people can harvest a wild node: with the key difference being these nodes
